I enjoyed reading about the additional resources you chose. The program, Second Step seems amazing. Bullying prevention is a must in all school districts. Bullying is everywhere and that it sad. Unfortunately, bullying starts at an early age. For some children, they are mimicking what they see at home and do not realize that when they display that behavior at school is not right to do. Social development is especially important, now more than ever with schooling and children’s extra-curricular interests being on-line. As much as we as professionals do not like calling Child Protection Services it is a life saver for some children.
Thank you for sharing the Second Step resource. We know that social emotional health is crucial to child child development, but it has been my primary focus this school year due to so many social restrictions from Covid. I do worry, that as this continues, we will begin to see more and more social/emotional concerns in children and this website offers some valuable insight and support in this area!
Thank you for sharing the additional resources! I really enjoyed Reading Rockets. I will be using the summer reading as well as the kindergarten readiness with my students.
Thank you for sharing those resources. The only one I am familiar with is Second Step, my district actually ended up purchasing the Second Step curriculum for all of our K-8 schools. I really like that Reading Rockets has parent involvement and summer enrichment. It goes above and beyond just providing student readiness and teacher instruction. I also like that they have evidenced based instruction. I have done some trauma informed training over the past couple years through my district, but I really like how your resource offers free membership and online learning. I will definitely be adding your resources to my list!
Great resources! I will definitely put the resources to use, especially the ReadingRockets. I love to read as a hobby and for professional use. I do believe it's a lost art and children are never too young to start enjoying books!
Thank you for sharing! I have heard of Positive Discipline, but not Conscious Discipline. I am interested to learn more about it. Reading Rockets also seems like a wonderful resource to encourage literacy in early childhood! Each child will read when they are ready, but it is our job in the EC field to prepare them and give them all the tools we can to help them thrive.
