Congratulations on your pregnancy!
ReplyDeleteI hope to apply to a few associate director positions soon, do you have any recommendations or tips to share from your interview experiences? I also use the dictation feature on my computer. I use it to dictate essays that I write on paper. I find that is much easier for me to produce high-quality assignments.
When I go for interviews I research the provider first. Learn all about them. Look on their website, Twitter and Facebook. See what families and the community say about them. I go visit the sites location in the morning afternoon and evening before it closes, kind of like a spy. But hay, this is a place you are maybe wonting to work at, you should see the environment around the facility through out the day. I've been interested in places I've seen online before but never applied because of what I saw happening during the day around the center. I think it's a good idea to memorize their mission and goals. Make their mission and goals part of what you are looking for in a new job. If it's a childcare center may sure they know your love for children and families. Families always come first, they are the costumers and costumers are always right when it comes to their children's development. Even though teachers have the education and may know scientifically what is best for a certain age group, parents and families know their children best. In interviews the always ask your strengths and weaknesses. Make sure your strengths can add to their program and your weaknesses can become a strength if you are given the opportunity to build yourself in their program. Everyone's weaknesses can be thought of as a strength if you look at it in a different perspective, make sure you tell them both perspectives. Do all these things and you will get hired.
DeleteHow exciting! Congratulations on your pregnancy! It can be so hard to change jobs, especially with such a large change, but you are doing the best you can for your family. I also appreciated your vulnerability talking about your struggles, I don't have any issues typing, but I also use text to speech to type. What a handy tool! This is a great example of how providing a simple accommodation leads to much success. The same message we can extend to our students :) Good luck with everything!

Thank you Rebecca
DeleteI am also stuck as a teacher assistant with years as experience. I have been the lead teacher in the summer program for the past 3 years; but when the school year starts they drop me right back down to a teacher assistant. I was told I needed my masters to be moved up to the teacher position. Congrats on your pregnancy. Hang in there and take it easy.
