Hello Kathleen, it's like, we are both thinking about the same thing to bring to another country if there is an emergency to evacuate. Bringing along the family album is very important to preserve family memories of the good times, and the family cookbook is important too to keep the family tradition alive.
Kathleen, We brought 2 of the same items for the same reasons. I was surprised by your 3rd item as it was something that I hadn't even thought about. However, reading your reasons why, it made so much sense and would absolutely be something that would be important to bring to ensure the ability to get a job and support my family in a new place!
I also put a family photo album on my list. It seemed like an obvious item to remind you of important members and places your family has experienced. I hadn't thought of a recipe book though, that is definitely a defining item of a families culture. You also make a great point about the power of language and how moving to a place with a language barrier would be detrimental to so many families. Thanks for continuously great posts! -Rebecca Hurth rebecca.hurth@waldenu.edu
