Expanding Horizons and Expanding Resources

  1. Thanks for your post! I appreciate the little image at the end. As adults, we know the importance of nourishing ourselves, but I think it can get forgotten the affect malnourishment has on a child and their functioning, especially in school. Food also sometimes brings kids to school-they know they will have a safe and reliable meal. Great post!

  2. Great post! I too found some really helpful information on this website, and am honestly surprised that I haven't used this website prior to this assignment. Great mission and lots of great info that keep us thinking and pushing us to do more for children everywhere!

  3. Kathleen,
I liked that you mentioned how you also heard Save the Children was a scam organization. I had heard that as well. I believe they had used a celebrity endorsement and found that it tarnished their reputation. I have also heard the assumption that Save the Children does not offer help to children in the U.S. I did believe that assumption as well. However, I now know that it does. I even went as far as to see if they offer career opportunities. They do offer career opportunities in the U.S. I was surprised at how much the organization does for children. Would you know recommend this organization to someone interested in helping children?

    1. Channette,
I would recommend this organization. I saw that they do some many things for children and families. I like that they have careers and I am interested in helping or pursing a part-time job.

  4. Thanks for sharing Kathleen! I also liked the article, “Why are unaccompanied children traveling to the U.S. border?” I live in San Diego, and my family lives a few miles from the U.S./Mexico border, so we are up close and personal with all that is going on regarding these children. The “Migrant Caravan” that came up the the U.S./Mexico border not too long ago also had an impact on my family's hometown as well. It’s so mind-boggling to me to be so close to something that is such a big deal.
